Description

Live like a Londoner and share a postcode with the Queen! This spectacular family house, a classic London townhouse built in 1846 and quietly situated in a friendly and beautiful London terrace 10 minutes' WALK from Buckingham Palace, boasts 7 bedrooms, a sitting room, a kitchen-dining room (seats 12), a conservatory-study, 3 bathrooms + 2 separate WCs & free unlimited wi-fi throughout. With the rooms laid out on four main floors (and some mezzanines), the house works well for extended families. There are 4 x large double beds (150cm, 5'6' wide), 1 x smaller double bed (135 cm, 4"6" wide), 3 x single beds and 2 x fold-out bed-chairs. Maximum permitted occupancy is 12 people plus infants (2 x cots provided). The main rooms have ornate ceilings, marble fireplaces, chandeliers & working window-shutters yet the house is fitted with with every modern convenience: washing machine/dryer, microwave, dishwasher, hair-dryers, irons, SMART TVs in four rooms (with internet access, Netflix etc.), gas-log open fire, digital radio/sound systems with iPad, iPhone/MP3 'docks', linen/towels, books, toys, DVDs, 2 x highchairs and other baby equipment. Cozy and warm in winter, high quality fans keeps the top floors comfortable in the very hottest summer (though mostly, this being London, they're not needed). Outside there’s a suntrap terrace leading from the kitchen, plus a delightful patio garden wreathed in jasmine and wisteria. A great sports centre with public-access gym and swimming pools is a two minute walk from the house, as are a wide range of grocery stores and other local shops, banks, a post-office, beauty salons and so on..

We keep the house in immaculate condition, constantly re-painting to remove scuff marks and renewing furniture and accessories regularly. Guests frequently comment on our level of cleanliness and attention to detail. A welcome pack of groceries greets you on arrival.

We pride ourselves on the fact that the house is imaginatively decorated and laid out in such a way that there are great opportunities for privacy, as well as for all members of the household to meet together sociably.

The location of this wonderful house is unbeatable. Although it is situated in the very heart of London, it is quietly positioned. The area is very safe and well served in every possible way. The neighbouring streets are full of great local shops (including supermarkets - open all hours - and specialist delicatessans), cafes and restaurants. At one end of the street is a local food market; at the other, under two minutes' walk from the house, is Pimlico Underground ('Tube') Station and terrific local bus routes. From the house it is just a short stroll to Victoria Station, Tate Britain, the Thames, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Cathedral, St James’ Park, Battersea Park, Downing Street, the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. Several theatres, too, and a beautiful new cinema are within easy walking distance, and it is only a short tube/bus/taxi ride (or you can walk) to Hyde Park, Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Oxford Street, Piccadilly Circus, the West End, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, the National Gallery, the National Theatre, the National Film Theatre, the Festival Hall, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, the London Eye, the London Aquarium and other main London attractions. There are easy transport links to all London airports and mainline stations, and London and regional bus tours. For those who like to run or jog, there are great routes along the River Thames and through the historic local streets and parks.

This spectacular house is brilliantly located for special annual London events, including - within WALKING distance - all Royal Family celebrations, the Chelsea Flower Show , the London Marathon (finishing line), the New Year's Day Parade, the Lord Mayor's Procession & Show, the Russian Winter Festival, outdoor skating ,the Chinese New Year celebrations, Trooping of the Colour, Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Thames Festival, the Chelsea Antiques Fair, the State Opening of Parliament, the London Film Festival, Guy Fawkes Night, the main New Year Celebrations, Christmas Lighting Celebrations and Westminster Abbey for Christmas Carols and all Royal Family celebrations.

Within a short tube/bus ride you'll reach the London International Boat Show, the Olympia Fine Art & Antique Fair, Wimbledon, the Holiday and Travel Show, Party in the Park, the Proms at the Albert Hall, the Covent Garden Festival of Street Theatre, the Notting Hill Carnival - and many others major cultural and sporting events. Wimbledon is an easy tube-ride away, as is Wembley Stadium.

Six friends rented the house for the London Marathon, and all had a fantastic stay. Great location, ideal for the tube, fantastic communication from the owners.

I would definately rent this house again, it was clean and homely, with some great pubs & restaurants nearby.

Inbetween the eating, shopping and siteseeing we even managed to run the marathon!

We spent a week in London in December, 2018 - three generations ranging in age from 10 to 66 - and our visit was perfect, owing largely to our wonderful accommodations in this lovely home. We walked or took the tube (less than a block away) everywhere we went, enjoyed the restaurants and pubs close to the house, and even did a fair amount of cooking in the well-equipped kitchen, using food we purchased from the two grocery stores within a 3-block walk. There was plenty of room to spread out so we never felt crowded and coffee in the morning on the terrace off the kitchen was the perfect way to start the day (or to finish it with a glass of wine there after a day of sightseeing). I can't recommend this home too highly and dealing with the owner, Owner, was the icing on the cake. She's the best. GO! STAY! ENJOY!

We are back home in Italy and wanted to thank you for a lovely stay at Tachbrook. Our stay there stands out from the many different places we stayed during our month-long trip, and that is due to how well-organized and homey you have made the house. In fact, the bed was so comfortable there, I cannot resist asking you, may I know what type (brand/model) of mattress you use there?

It was really a wonderful stay in London, and the house was just perfect. We loved the toilet seats! The location was great and all the information given us by the owner about restaurants, shops, bus etc was very helpful (we used bus nr 24 most of the time as we were advised to do - kids loved to sit up in the front). One of the kids thought being in the house was the best attraction!

2 colleagues and I stayed at this property for 3 nights while attending a conference at the QE2 centre. The flat's location was excellent - handy for tube access and walkable if it hadn't been Arctic like weather ! We liked the closeness of the shops and bars nearby - didn't get achance to eat at the Thai cafe but will do if back in future. The accomodation was first class- very clean and truly a home form home. All needs catered for with excellent kitchen, appliances, showers and comfy beds. Finally the owners are to be commended on their customer servicef which was antastic, Many thanks JH

I had the opportunity to bring 7 college students to London for a week-long study trip. The Tachbrook house was absolutely perfect for our needs: plenty of space, everything well fitted and comfortable, and a fantastic location to easily get to the sites and transportation around the city. The proprietor was fantastic to work with and left plenty of helpful instructions and tips. I recommend this highly and will look forward to calling it home again on my next trip to London.

We had a wonderful stay in London and the Tachbrook Street house was perfect for us. The location could not have been better or more convenient. We especially enjoyed the beautiful Warwick Square. I would highly recommend this property to friends and family travelling to London. I have absolutely no negative comments about the entire process or house. You were always prompt with my many questions and you were very helpful with the information provided after the booking. Thanks for all you did to make our vacation most memorable.

The words ‘112 Tachbrook Street’ will always bring back fond memories. The London Olympics were a spectacular success, and to live in the heart of the city in your beautiful home was, without question, a highlight of our adventure. Each of our family and guests commented on how special it was to ‘feel like a Londoner’ thanks to the style, location and comfort of your home. When I’d give newcomers a tour and walk into the living room I always said: ‘This is where we watch the Olympics when we are not actually at the Olympics!’ And indeed we did, creating memories just in that room. The family meals, the walks about town, always meeting back ‘home’ and the comfort of seeing Tachbrook Street again after a long but wonderful day at the events were all memorable. Thank you very much for helping to make our visit so wonderful.

The first words that we all thought of when we walked up to the house were WOW! It looked just like the picture! Every aspect of this beautiful house exceeded our expectations. The house was immaculate and all the rooms were exactly as pictured and described. We were a party of 10 adults- 3 married couples and 4 singles. The bedrooms worked out perfectly and we had more than enough room at the kitchen table. The supplies were more than adequate for our needs. We especially loved that our lovely landlord had stocked our refrigerator with milk & butter and also left us a goodie basket with some bread and cereal & juice and most importantly wine to start our vacation.

The house was superbly located, close to supermarkets, restaurants & pubs! We shopped at Tesco, a 2 minutes’ walk away, and ate at the Thai Cafe and the Constitution Pub, both excellent. We used the underground a few times, but with 10 of us, found it cheaper to go by cab when the distance was too much for walking.

Recommend the Taxi App! We were within walking distance to almost everything we wanted to do and the neighborhood felt safe and very quaint. Wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the gardens and the local area.

Adrienne & Carole were excellent with tons of information ahead of time that helped immensely with our planning. I don't think we had put one minor question! Great job!

I would say, even if you have to stretch your budget a bit, you won't go wrong with this rental. I have rented quite a few places over the past few years, in Rome, Amsterdam, and Washington, DC and this was by far the best yet. You always wonder how close to the description your house will be and paying in advance sometimes can be a bit unnerving. These ladies went beyond in helping me and my 9 other travel companions to feel comfortable with the entire process.

This house was perfect for the reunion of our far-flung family. Everyone had their own space as well as wonderful gathering places for meals. The house was very well equipped and in a great location for seeing London, as well as transportation to airports and train stations. We highly recommend it!

Thank you for an unforgettable vacation! Our extended family gathered for a week in London, and we were delighted for part of our group to stay in this charming, spacious home, which offered ample space and true comfort. Our children were so sad to leave yesterday--in part because they had so enjoyed the home's toys, hidden play spaces, and gorgeously inviting private garden. In the middle of the bustling city of London, we could not have imagined a more idyllic family retreat. We will cherish the memories of delicious food (prepared by a hired chef in the home's well-appointed kitchen) and warm family time around the dining table at this beautiful family home. Adrienne and Carole did so much to provide extensive information and assistance and all the comforts of home. We are very grateful to them; they offered our family a perfect vacation. Many thanks!

I am late in listing my review as I stayed with 10 women (Ladies trip celebrating a big birthday) back April 26 - May 1st. 2015. All of my dealings with both Carole and Adreinne were terrific. They helped us every step of the way and went way beyond the call of duty when one of us left a shoe at the house and they made sure it was returned to California! Everything was as described. It was a perfect location. We were able to walk to pubs (a local told us "Cask" right down the street, was the best pub in all of London. Restaurants and stores also steps away.

Everything was clean, comfortable and exceeded our needs. I would definately recommend this to any large group going to London. We have wonderful memories of all the gracious and lovely people and places of London.
